Rage seared through Kagome’s veins like molten lava as she lay sprawled face down in the mud hole. The young miko mustered the tattered remains of her dignity and regally stood. Slowly, the enraged girl turned toward her gaping suitors and calmly squelched through the mud.
Kouga and Inu Yasha whined in unison.
Kagome stood before the whimpering males; her eerily serene expression belied the fury radiating from her aura. Both demons subconsciously stepped closer to each other, their instincts demanding a temporary truce in the face of their woman’s wrath. Silently, Kagome stared unflinchingly into each pair of guilt-ridden eyes. Inu Yasha gulped as he nervously noted the similarity between Kagome’s and Sesshoumaru’s intimidating glares.
Kagome raised her hand and Kouga flinched, expecting to feel the sting of her palm. Instead of delivering a bruising slap, Kagome merely pointed toward the mud hole. Kouga and Inu Yasha blinked stupidly for a moment then looked at each other in confusion. Kagome pursed her lips in mute anger as she narrowed her eyes and jerked her finger toward the mud hole.
Both bewildered demons stared at the mud hole desperately hoping if they stared at it long enough it would reveal its great secret. When enlightenment failed to surface they glanced at each other and sighed. Inu Yasha scratched his ear and Kouga scratched his ass. Then Kouga scratched his forehead and Inu Yasha scratched his armpit.
While she rubbed her throbbing temple with one hand, Kagome continued to point toward the mud hole with her other one. Their eyes widened in dawning realization and they timidly walked past their fuming miko. When they reached the edge of the mud hole they both tentatively looked at Kagome, their eyes pleading for forgiveness. The slight nod of her head gave them hope causing Kouga’s tail to wag and a tiny smile to creep onto Inu Yasha’s face. Kouga and Inu Yasha grinned at each other then both demons belly flopped into the mud hole.
